Never did I know that getting on that plane for the summer meant that nothing will ever be the same again. Had I only known, or atleast seen this coming, I guess things would have gone in a better direction.

Anyway, Here’s a track I picked up a few days ago, its called Float by Ko Ko. Another indie track to keep me relaxed during stress work.

I’d like to take a few lines from one of my favorite movies to speak for what I can’t.

Today marks a profound and bittersweet milestone for all of us, as we bear witness to both an end and a beginning. And while we must continue on, we must also be grateful to have been blessed with someone who has so ably guided us to where we are today. When there has been so much love and happiness for someone, it is natural to be reluctant to close such a wonderful chapter in our lives, for moving forward is rarely accomplished without considerable grief and sadness. And while our sorrow may be profound, the clouds will clear, and the sun will shine on us again. And in that warm, bright light we will find ourselves facing a glorious future. A future of exciting challenges and infinite possibilities, in which the horizon will stretch out before us, trimmed in the heavenly glow of the sunrise of our tomorrow. -The Prince & Me

Either way, I still continue to move forward with my life. Frankly I am mixed with emotions of both excitement and fear for the uncertainty ahead which I am about to face. Still, my mind and body continues with it’s busy work and my schedule is already getting packed up with nearing gigs, school, meetings, events, etc.

Later this evening, a few old friends picked me & Chesca up, unexpectedly and brought us to Fort at Relik for a few drinks. It’s been a while since I did these random night get away and it actually feels good again. Thanks to Arvin, Gelo, Dante, Paolo and Thea, because I think its about time I start giving myself a little break.

So long very sweet summer and here I am opening the last book of my college life. Summer just flew by so fast, things I was hoping to find were never found. I guess thats why Im so bitter with this beginning. Quite honestly I’m not even the slightest bit excited for this yet because of certain reasons.

Here’s another song I added to my “feel good” playlist which I got from Gossip Girl’s soundtrack. I’ve been watching Gossip Girl Episodes from Season 3 to 4 all summer and I’ve found tracks I really dig. Here’s one of them.

Another One Down by Asher Roth Feat. D.A. Wallach

040503 00

Over the summer, I’ve been setting this goal for me to find myself with deep-self thinking and reflection. There are things that really need time. I wanted to set my goals straight and find myself during the summer, both, unfortunately, unattained. Though clearly, I can never stop being thankful for the amazing time I had with my family, I’ll really miss them all over again.

Either way, I’ll just take a deep breath, accept reality as it is, I’m back in Manila, missing home and family more than ever and my Senior Year in college has just begun.

IMG_4629

First class today was Draping 3, we had to draft three gowns inspired by Victoria’s Secret and we have to use “jeepney basahans” as a materials of this project. This should be a challenge, what a great opening to begin this year with.

Here’s a track I found from G.I Joe 2: Retaliation, its an awesome remix by The Glitch Mob, it’s pretty bad-ass, which looks like the opposite from this outfit post.

White Stripes - Seven Nation Army (The Glitch Mob Remix)

I’m gonna fight ‘em all
A nation army couldn’t hold me back
They’re gonna rip it off
Taking their time right behind my back

And I’m talking to myself at night
Because I can’t forget
Back and forth through my mind
Behind a cigarette
And the message coming from my eyes
Says leave it alone

Don’t want to hear about it
Every single one’s got a story to tell
Everyone knows about it
From the Queen of England to the hounds of hell

And if I catch it coming back my way
I’m gonna serve it to you
And that aint what you want to hear
But thats what I’ll do
And the feeling coming from my bones
Says find a home

I’m going to Wichita
Far from this opera for evermore
I’m gonna work the straw
Make the sweat drip out of every pore
And I’m bleeding, and I’m bleeding, and I’m bleeding
Right before the lord
All the words are gonna bleed from me
And I will sing no more
And the stains coming from my blood
Tell me go back home

The well-known Bascon Cafe brings you  27th Bascon, their newest venture  still located at Lacson Street, Bacolod City, just across the cafe on 27th street. I was pretty impressed with the interior because it was a fusion of the modern Filipino Atmosphere with traditional elements.

IMG_3639-2

IMG_3653

As I said, I loved how designs of this place blend modern and traditional. The Function room on the second floor is designed with wooden windows and capiz shells, the one’s you can see in historical Filipino Houses.

IMG_3644

Mom brought us here for lunch for Elle’s 16th. Yes, Happy Birthday to my one and only sister today! Can’t believe you are 16 now and if its my last year in college, this is her last year in Highschool too.

IMG_3663IMG_3686IMG_3673IMG_3677IMG_3681

Unlike the cafe, which is known for their tasty pastries & cakes, 27th Bascon focuses on serving you full, appetizing meals that bring you the comfort of well-loved home recipes of the island in modern cooking.

My taste buds have been craving for those lutong-bahay recipes especially those that bring me that Negrense Flavor because truthfully, facing fast food chains and those complex restaurants in Manila make me miss the fuss-free cooking of Bacolod. 27th Bascon was the perfect place.

Picking through the menu just confused me since it served almost all my favorite meals and they had a wide variety of choices. But the moment I saw Sinigang on the menu, I just had to take it.

What we had for lunchGrilled Chicken & Pomelo Salad, Chicken Relleno, Mango Shake, Salmon Sinigang, and Rice was unlimited served from a native basket with banana leaves which gave that Filipino-home feel.

IMG_3661IMG_3691IMG_3696IMG_3704IMG_3715IMG_3714

After that, you’ll definitely want sweets to fully finish that awesome dinning experience and Bascon Cafe is just across, so why not walk there?

For Dessert: Bannoffee Pie & Blueberry Cheescake

Thank You Tita Marili Gonzaga and to your dad, Tito Dodong Bascon for accommodating us very well!

I’ve always dreamed of having that picture-perfect summer experience, like the one’s exciting and inspiring enough to be a movie or a book just like The Au Pairs and The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. But for countless straight summers, its always been the same routine, and even though we travel once in a while, I can’t seem to find that specific essence I have been looking for every year.

I remember the magic of summer as a child, its just like how fairytales seemed to exist in children; the feeling like the day may never end, anything is possible and there’s nothing more to life than those moments of swimming in the pool for hours, camping in a tent in our backyard at night or having a ton of toys to entertain you. Summer wasn’t just the absence of school, but it was something more to that like a time for you to find adventures and make good memories. There were no cell phones, facebook or those complicated things I have to deal with today.

Im trying not to stress on getting that “perfect summer”. Maybe I don’t need to go to Europe to get that exciting feeling, or fall in love with a summer fling to make it memorable or even stay in the beach for days and hope for crazy nights. Generally, I think I need a peaceful, mind-relaxing and soul-reviving summer that’s going to help me find myself and answer all the questions that’s been on my mind for the past year and that’s going to prepare me for my last year in college.

Hopefully, this one makes a difference. I’ll keep you updated.

April 13, 2010

My tired and weary eyes just kelp sulking as I made it past this entire day as my body just ached to find a bed and sleep. Finally, finals are over and I am relieved because I can get some proper sleep already to make up for inconsistent lack of rest for the past week. Although I am glad this is over,  a subsequent thought of how I could have done better this term was unavoidable.

I guess this day sums up my entire Junior Year as a fashion student at DLS-CSB. I still can’t believe how fast all these happenings are just overlaying with my life. It would be great if someone could at least hand me a remote to pause and rewind these things all over again because truthfully, this has been an amazing year.

My days as a Junior Fashion Student are now at count with my fingers. It even still feels surreal that I am already in college and looking back 2 years ago on how much I wanted to study in Manila is pretty overwhelming. Benilde was my dream school and I have it, there’s not a day I am not thankful for it.

Its been a whirlwind of events since then, and all of those shaped me into becoming a who I am now, though I’m not sure if that’s entirely a good thing but it feels fine. I guess that when it feels right, then its okay as long as you remain real to yourself even as you continue to change and develop.

Finals are half-way done, though today I feel pretty much unsatisfied with most of the outcome of my finals projects because I know I could have done way better. The lack of sleep, frequent back pains and several wounds on my hands by pins and needles aren’t definitely what I signed up for but if you never start chasing after what you want, then you’ll never get it.

Although recently Ive been perplexed; confused of what I really want, especially with life after college.

February 29, 2011

Its been nearly 9 months since Sir Nestor and I started co-managing Jensen Gomez. Then Earlier in November, Sleep is the Enemy & Archievals became a part of our under-the-radar management, which we temporarily called “BTS Prod”. Back then, I already thought managing 3 bands was already a load of work until later in December when Lady Ransom was finally welcomed in. At that point, it was pretty obvious that Sir Nest & I couldn’t handle these bunch of rockstars on our own anymore. So earlier in January 2012, we welcomed in road managers, Gwen & May to handle LR & Archievals while I still remained as Jensen’s & Sleep’s RM. Ianna and Roma came in to handle the business and marketing side. Dogtown Music was finally formed, and at last we found a wicked awesome name for our not-so-under-the-radar management.

And since then, its A LOT of work; the late night gigs, the meetings, organizing shizz I didn’t even dare imagine I’d be doing. And tonight, Dogtown Music Prod Launch, were finally out in the open, all the hard work finally payed off to see how far we have gone since then. Saguijo had a Saturday crowd going on there on a wednesday night and that was overwhelming enough to see support from a lot of people. And welcome to the newest band, Limelight!

Thank You to Sir Nestor for trusting me in the first place. Congratulations again Sir.
May, Gwen, Yanna and Roma, thank you for having my back and for being cool people to work with.

To Chanel, Lee, Mac, Migs, Adam, Jackie, Lua and everyone else who I usually don’t see in gigs, thank you for coming tonight, means a lot u guys were there!
To Ryan, Migs, Allan, Natz, Lester, Nailen, Sette, Hershey thanks for handling the video and photo work tonight, hope u guys had fun too.
Thanks to all that came and supported!

Congratulations again everyone!

Questions?

January 7, 2012

It was in the middle of the evening when two of my close friends really wanted new profile pictures and they just had to ask me for a shoot and so yeah this is what I gave them. Kim and I were down south at Alabang with Janine. Im glad we finally found time to do this because this hang out has been long over due because of everyone’s busy schedules. I really missed these two, and it feels good to be back here with them again.

Anyway, Here’s part one featuring Kim. I normally don’t do fantasy and very girly shoots like this, here’s my first time actually. It really fits Kim’s personality.

December 24, 2011

Before anything else, HAPPY HOLIDAYS everyone! Thanks to my sister for taking the photos here, it’s the first time we actually shot in the backyard. It’s giving this entire forest/woods feel which totally excites me. Doesn’t even look like it was shot here in the Philippines, I love the feel; it makes me feel fall or autumn. It’s legit.

Truthfully its rare that you find fashion bloggers blogging about hardcore rock gigs. I’m one of those rare ones.

The moment you start to hear music that is strong enough to distort your necks with the sound of their instruments, yes, it isCURBSIDE PHCongratulations to this Metal Rock Band for tonight they are launching their second Extended Playlist, I just had to purchase myself a copy.

I’ve grown to know each of them through out the year, More I’ve grown close to Chase, their drummer, and I can tell him just about almost anything. To Migs, Chase, Russ, Niko & Brent, congratulations! Watching you guys move so synchronized with your music is just as dynamically amazing.

I can never find the right words to justify how legit their music is. As always, I stand up front nod my head, scream, jump, and get lost to rock and roll. It’s always such a high form of release. And just like previous Curbside performances, I stand beside my head banging buddy, Ling Lava of Lions & Acrobats.

Last December 2010 was the first ever gig I attended, and it was also Curbside’s 1st  EP launch and now Im back here and their music just got even better. Curbside playing live is just so orgasmic to the ears.

It’s been a long day, been a little stretched due to the ups and downs. Course Card Distribution during the morning, then we had to prepare the 8th floor for our FDM Christmas Party, then we had it till 7 in the evening. Since we didn’t want to end our day so short, Veronica, Ed, Lua & I drove around Malate in the hopes of finding a Comedy Bar. We didn’t find one, even around Roxas Boulevard area, so we just ended up having dinner at Mister Kebab. Then I’m here at Guijo.

This was my last night in Manila and I’m ending this awesome year here at this gig. Glad one of my closest friends, Migs Ferreras, was also there. This night and day has been a bit heavy on a specific aspect due to certain circumstances that led to certain situations. But all is ok now, so thank you everyone for awesome 2011!

Here’s the output of our Final Project for our Fashion Sketching Class. This took tedious work and everyone’s output was just stunning. I’ll do a separate post on the details of my Death Carnival collection, but for now, here’s what my classmates have create. I was so stunned when I saw all of these, they were too gorgeous.

The scenario was for us to create our best looks as a designer if we stepped back or forward in time to our chosen era.

Here are some of the works of my friends, Who wouldn’t be impressed with these?
